Artscape 2012

If you enjoy bright colors and looking into the minds and hearts of our youth through their creative efforts, you will enjoy Artscape 2012, an annual exhibition of artwork by students from ASIJ and other international and Japanese schools across the Kanto Plain. This exhibition is designed to be more than just an art show—the philosophy of Artscape is to coordinate international sharing and expression through the arts. The mission of Artscape is to” create an environment for the public exhibition of selected student artworks and create an opportunity for an international art dialogue between students, teachers, the participating school communities and the Japanese public”.  This year, drawings, paintings, photography, pottery and computer graphics by ASIJ students from grades 6-12 will be on display.  There will be over 500 pieces of work from 13 different schools.

Artscape 2012 will be held at the National Children’s Castle (Kodomo no Shiro)  in Aoyama from February 23 through March 11, 2012.  The opening reception, which is open to the public, will be in the atrium of the Children’s Castle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22.  The National Children’s’ Castle is located at 5-53-1 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.  Please refer to The National Children’s’ Castle website,  http://www.kodomono-shiro.or.jp/english ,for hours, access details and map.

We hope that you can make it to the reception or visit the National Children’s Castle during the show to see the creative expression of thoughts and ideas of our ASIJ youth at this year’s Artscape 2012 exhibition.
